The Camden Promise Neighborhood program of the Center for Family Services seeks to create a cradle-to-career pipeline of comprehensive programs designed to create a community where children have the opportunity to thrive.
Children growing up in neighborhoods in Camden face a myriad of obstacles in achieving academic and life-long success. A pathway to college graduation and career placement is critical to break the cycle of generational poverty.
Center for Family Services and a team of dedicated partners are building a Promise Neighborhood, a pipeline of academic and social supports focused on: school readiness strategies for young children; programs for successful transitions through school; college and career pathways for young adults; and wraparound services for families. The Promise Neighborhood program not only promises to address the needs of some of southern New Jersey’s most vulnerable communities, but its strategies for doing so are also proven to be effective.
The Camden Promise Neighborhood is a community-driven, place-based effort to improve educational and developmental outcomes for children and youth in distressed communities. The interconnected programs are designed to reach children at every age and every stage of development. Together these programs create a pipeline of comprehensive supports for children from cradle-to-college-to-career. The vision is that all children growing up in Promise Neighborhoods have access to effective schools and strong systems of family and community support that will prepare them to attain an excellent education and successfully transition to college and career.
