CFSJ Executive Director Andy Fraizer Speaking

CFSJ Executive Director Andy Fraizer and IFBE Director Brian Brogan will present. CFSJ and IFBE held the first such event in Mt. Laurel recently and were encouraged by South Jersey professional advisors to repeat its content. “The session is a learning and networking event to share motivations, tools, and ideas for family business owners, advisors with clients, and nonprofits with donors looking to incorporate philanthropy into their planning,” Fraizer said. “Brian and I will share information on the topic which will be followed by a panel discussion with South Jersey family business owners. I am thrilled to host the event in Atlantic City, where there is a palpable community spirit of renewal and reinvestment”

Confirmed panel participants include:

  • Michael Collins – Owner of Colmar Home Center in Margate
  • Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo – Co-Owner of B.F. Mazzeo in Northfield
  • Mark Ganter – Co-Owner of the Little Water Distillery

“Philanthropy is core to a modern businesses’ brand and voice externally. It allows business owners to share their vision in a direct and tangible way,” Brian Brogan said. “Community-involved businesses earn a reputation as champions for their community, and often see benefits from their philanthropy, including customer loyalty and talent attraction.”

Registration for this free event is available online at www.givesj.info. For more information on the evening’s program, you can also contact Lee Albright at the Community Foundation of South Jersey by calling 856-528-3385, or by email at lalbright@communityfoundationsj.org.

The Community Heart & Soul model is a catalyst for positive change in small cities and towns. By actively seeking the collective wisdom of all residents, including those whose voices are often missing, this initiative brings people together to build stronger, healthier and more economically vibrant communities.

“Community Heart & Soul reconnects people with what they love most about their town and translates those personal and emotional connections into a blueprint that serves as the foundation for future community decisions,” said Andy Fraizer, executive director of the Community Foundation of South Jersey.

Each of the selected communities will have access to up to $100,000 in funding from the Community Foundation of South Jersey to support a full-scale Heart & Soul project; receive exclusive training, technical assistance and coaching; and get support in establishing and building their own locally controlled community endowed fund to be responsive to the priorities developed through their project.

To learn more about this opportunity, eligibility requirements and how to sign up for a required local Community Heart & Soul workshop, visit transformsouthjersey.org in the coming days for additional information.

Collectibles: Valuation & Legacy, a Professional Advisors Event

Professional advisors and collectors: Please join the Community Foundation of South Jersey, Freeman’s, America’s oldest auction house, and Marsh Private Client Services for an after-work networking event to learn about the valuation of collectables and the role philanthropy can play in succession of a collection. This will be an opportunity to learn how to leave a legacy for future generations through a tangible asset such as client and family collections.

Eventually, collectors need to plan for how to pass on their beloved collection. The first decision is when the transfer will occur, while the collector is alive or at death. The next decision is if the collection will be gifted to a charitable organization or passed on to heirs. Each of these choices has its own consequences.

Download the handouts for the event here.

The event location is the Double Nickel Brewing Company,  1585 Route 73, NJ 08110.

The main entrance to Double Nickel Brewing Company is accessed via a highway ramp from NJ RT 73 to US 130 south. Event organizers used two GPS navigation apps, Waze and Google Maps readily available on iOS and Android devices to navigate to the location. Waze successfully navigated us to the main entrance. Google Maps however brought us from the rear (back of the building). This is noted by the star on the map. Please use the map below to assist with hassle free navigation to the site. Download the map here. Contact the Double Nickel Brewing Company at 856-356-2499, if you have any difficulty finding the event on February 28, 2019.
