Carlos Diaz made every moment count and truly lived life to the fullest. He was an extremely passionate and loving person whose heart was overflowing with immense love. His faith, family and friends were of paramount importance to him.
After being diagnosed with a very aggressive form of germ cell cancer, Carlos underwent a grueling year of several types of chemo and radiation. Despite the arduous efforts of his doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and his great desire to live, Carlos passed into eternal life on October 3, 2015, five days shy of his 29th birthday. Even during his last days with us Carlos made sure that everyone involved with his care, doctors and family members, knew how much he appreciated what had been done for him. He encouraged his team of doctors to continue their work in helping others beat cancer.
Carlos’ attitude of gratitude and his amazing love for others is the driving force behind the Love Like Carlos Memorial Fund. The mission of the fund is to support organizations that strive to make the lives of patients afflicted with cancer and their families less stressful by supporting their financial needs and to help charities that provide aid to the disadvantaged and marginalized. In addition, each year the LLCMF will award a student athlete with a scholarship to attend Carlos’ alma maters, Saint Joseph Regional School and Holy Spirit High School.
Through your kindness and support, LLCMF has been able to provide grants to organizations such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, South Jersey Cancer Fund, Food For The Poor and award scholarships to Holy Spirit High School and Saint Joseph’s Regional School.
